Erin and Chase’s spring wedding at Record Box Loft in Battle Creek, Michigan was the perfect blend of whimsical design, artistic intention, and genuine joy. From the moment I read Erin’s inquiry describing her vision of a “magical, flowery, fairytale” day, I knew this wedding would be something special.

With a soft, garden-inspired color palette of lavender, blush, ivory, and natural greens layered against the venue’s exposed brick and industrial textures, every part of their day felt like stepping into a romantic, storybook-inspired world. As a Michigan wedding photographer, documenting weddings at Record Box Loft always feels meaningful to me, but this one felt especially personal.

ABOUT RECORD BOX LOFT IN BATTLE CREEK

Located in downtown Battle Creek, Michigan along the riverfront, Record Box Loft is a historic industrial wedding venue that combines character, versatility, and convenience all under one roof.

Originally built in 1902, the space features exposed brick, original hardwood floors, and large windows that flood the venue with natural light. One of the biggest draws of Record Box Loft is the ability to host your entire wedding day in one location, from getting ready to ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

For couples who love an industrial aesthetic but still want the flexibility to design something soft, romantic, or completely unique, this venue offers a beautiful blank canvas. Its location in the heart of downtown Battle Creek also allows easy access to nearby photo locations like Kellogg Park, the riverwalk, and surrounding historic areas.

GETTING READY + CEREMONY

The day began with a calm, intentional energy as Erin and Chase got ready onsite. One of the things I love most about Record Box Loft is how the space allows for both movement and quiet moments, giving couples room to breathe while still being surrounded by beautiful light.

Their ceremony took place indoors beneath the warm glow of Edison lights, with floral installations that felt organic, playful, and full of life. Soft ribbons, lush blooms, and layered textures brought Erin’s vision of a whimsical, fairytale-inspired day to life in a way that felt both elevated and deeply personal.

As guests gathered, there was this quiet anticipation that shifted into pure joy the moment Erin walked down the aisle. It was emotional, intentional, and completely reflective of who they are as a couple.

WEDDING PORTRAITS AT RECORD BOX LOFT

One of the highlights of the day was capturing portraits both inside the venue and throughout downtown Battle Creek.

Record Box Loft offers such a strong visual contrast, from its textured brick interiors to the soft greenery just steps outside. We were able to move seamlessly between locations, creating a gallery that felt both editorial and natural.

Erin and Chase wanted their photos to feel like art while still capturing the joy of the day, and that balance is exactly what we leaned into. Guided when needed, but always leaving space for real moments to unfold.

The nearby riverwalk and Kellogg Park gave us the perfect setting for outdoor portraits, adding softness and movement to complement the industrial feel of the venue.

RECEPTION AT RECORD BOX LOFT

As the evening transitioned into the reception, the space completely transformed.

Long tables layered with candles, textured linens, and garden-inspired florals created an atmosphere that felt intimate, warm, and full of life. The glow of the Edison lights against the exposed brick added depth and mood, making everything feel cozy and romantic.

From heartfelt speeches to a packed dance floor, the energy of the room shifted into something celebratory and unforgettable. One of my favorite moments was watching Erin and Chase fully let go and just enjoy their night together, surrounded by the people who love them most.

WHY I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHING AT RECORD BOX LOFT

Record Box Loft is a venue that I know deeply, not just as a photographer, but personally. I actually got married here in 2021, which gives me a unique perspective when documenting weddings in this space.

I understand how the day flows, how the light moves throughout the building, and how to work with the warm tones of the brick and lighting to create images that feel true to life while still elevated.

The team at Record Box Loft is also incredible. They are involved, supportive, and genuinely care about each couple’s experience, which makes such a difference on a wedding day.

If you’re someone who loves the industrial aesthetic but still wants softness, movement, and the option for outdoor portraits, this venue is such a beautiful choice.
